Below is the video about our downtown Saginaw hydroponics project.

In truth, the hydroponics project was not overly successful...

Nearly 100 SVSU students, area high school students, and neighborhood residents participated in transforming a vacant lot into a community garden.

We constructed raised beds in the parking lot of the Houghton-Jones Neighborhood Center and then carried them over to the vacant lot, which was located on Tuscola Street across from Houghton Elementary School. We constructed nearly 40 raised beds, each of which is capable of providing fresh vegetables to one person during a growing season. The project was a partnership of the Green Cardinal Initiative, the Saginaw Urban Food Initiative, the Saginaw County Youth Leadership Institute, and SVSU. Support was provided by the Saginaw Community Foundation.

    Video of SVSU worm projects:

Worms were a great way to raise awareness on campus of environmental issues...
